Corey Rohleder: An amplifier made in 1997 or so isn't very old. There are some that were made in the 1950's and 1960's that are still working like new.The Dolby Digital converter may be only for "AC-3" signals that came from LaserDisc players when discs with that audio format were played.Check the owner's manual (google the brand and model to find one)to determine what types of signals the amplifier is intended to handle....Show more
Dallas Bartolini: This makes not much sense.Dolby Digital applies mostly to 5.1 signals, so not sure why a STEREO amp would support 5.1 Dolby Digital. (I don't believe it can take 5.1 and downconvert it to stereo..)In any case, on the Apple TV specify to output PCM over optical and it should work just fine....Show more

This gadget won't decode 5.a million-channel indicators. it is going to in basic terms convert 2-channel digital st! ereo (PCM) enter indicators to analog stereo output. this won't artwork with TVs that for the period of basic terms output 5.a million-channel digital indicators!" This wont artwork for him. guy - you purchased a crappy Sony encompass sound equipment that may not settle for 5.a million from any gadget. We hate those structures for in basic terms the clarification you have stumbled on - loss of connections. Take it returned. get a greater robust equipment that accepts the two 5.a million from optical or coaxial-digital. (Optical is a lot greater trouble-free). different than that - there is in basic terms not something you're able to try this does not value greater effective than changing that crappy "theater" equipment.
