Sheldon Lally: well if you can save the money buy Avid's Pro Tools 8/with mbox 3 check this out and compare your needshttp://www.guitarcenter.com/Avid,Audio-Interfaces-...an audio interface usually means what you use to record your vocals on like a sound card you connect you mic and record.. simple(you do have to setup first though, but once you know the process its simple). Since you have a Mac i would recommend Pro Tools because you will have less of a chance with incompatibility (there is also a learning curve when it comes to dealing with ANY software/hardware)good thing is it comes with both the program and hardware right out the box so your set, to record vocals consider what mic you need and your budget be aware that condenser mic are really sensitive to loud noises, metal heads don't use these a lot especially if they like to scream,a dynamic mic is preferred in this scenario (the most common mic it looks like an ice cream cone the a scoop of ice cream on top. A p! op filter a a small screen placed in front of the mic to prevent unwanted pops smack of the lips and excess pronunciation of "s" and "t" sounds.a good set of headphones are thesehttp://www.google.com/products/catalog?client=safa...i own pair similar cost me $100 good for mixing and recordingthere are many DAW(Digital Audio Worksation) programs out there so shop aroundsome include Pro Tools(Hardware dependable means you need the mbox it comes with to use it) , Apple Logic(another favorite among Mac users, Fl Studio(very easy to use only $200, no hardware needed),Cubase, Sonar, Reasonif you want to sound pro get pro tools its popular among pro studio owners and home studio enthusiast, but more goes' into sounding pro like FX and EQ(all this you can learn by youtube or forums), pro tools is a bit pricey i personally own it but just be aware there's more out there...Show more
Blair Abdi: well, a good mic is very important.in fact, it doen't need to take that much. U can ! do it with the inset recorder in windows or get help from pro ! softwares, such as Ulove Audio Recorder. And u can record the voice and acconyment seperately then combine them with cool edit.
