How do I sell a car on behalf of someone else?

Frank Gazaway: Send him a form called Bill OF Sale along with a Power of Attorney, and car title, (make a copy for yourself.) forms from Department of Motor Vehicles of your State. He will have to have them notorized by legal official in that country. Mail them registered mail. Make sure that he signs the title on the right line, No errors ! or cross outs will be accepted again make sure you understand, they have to be notorized, to provide proof of his signature,

Jesse Japak: All u need is the title And his signature. If its ok with him sign it. I sold my aunts car when she was on vac. She told me to sell it so I did. I posted it on Craigslist and told them straight out its my aunts, I don't know it's condition so take it or leave it. And they took it.

Dalia Causby: In some places the title must be notarized so you'd need to send it to him and him back to you after it's signed. In other places you can get away with signing his name (although it's not ko! sher). Check the laws where you live.

Elvin Mannheimer: You need the title and your dad needs to sign it over to you.All of this can be handled through the mail.

Rosalyn Olivera: to be 100% legal, you need a notarized power of attorney from the owner. However, in the real world, if you have the title and his permission, just sign his name, make a bill of sale out to the buyer as if you were him and you're done.

Perry Deshazior: DMV (most places) doesn't check signatures. If it's signed, and you (or SOMEONE) pays the the fees, they're happy. Obviously, if you were dealing with a stolen vehicle, there would be problems. Just sign it and be done with it.
