Linwood Mccory: probably the camcorder. maybe the battery terminals are dirty. batteries from the 80's might need to be fully charged first. does the camcorder work when plugged into an outlet? if it does, then its the battery or camcorder's connectors. clean off all terminals gently and one at a time and try again. then try the plugging it in idea. then try returning the battery and trying a different new one. then take it to a specialist. or get a new/used mini dv camcorder and a vhs adapter for the smaller tapes....Show more
