Marya Fehn: @ Longlive ..... The targeted gamblers of Macau's casinos are not foreign tourists but 1.3 billion Chinese people. Therefore, even if foreign corporations expanding their casino business to s east asian countreis, it wont affect Macau's business, Chinese people will continue gamble in Macau, , thats why its is a sure win business. .
Mark Hovanes: @ My name is ..... there are only 7 million population in HK but 1.3 billion in China. Even if only 1% of population in China are gamblers, it is already more than the entire population in HK. ..
Antone Youla: @ WNL ..... gambling is not a regular business. Furthermore, gambling itself doesn't produce a tangible industry that contribute to the development of a country, and the money a casino makes is from the loss of other people. The point is, those people who lose money to Macao casinos are not foreign tourists but Chinese people and China's wealth !! China's wealth should go back to China, not ! to the small number of individuals !....Show more
Cornelius Thornborrow: First of all gambling is not a sure win business, there are many casinos losing money in the US right now, some have closed down over the past couple of years. With the success in Macau, international casino corporations are expanding their business into other parts of south east Asia, who knows one day Macau casinos could lose money due to competition. To make it easy for you and Ape Cool, the Chinese government could easily privatize the Macau casinos after their government franchise expires. This saves the government initial investment of billions of dollars, have the advantage of attracting worldwide gamblers with instant name recognition (who would want to gamble at CCP casino?) thus saving tons of money in advertising and marketing, can start profiting right away without having to go through trial and error, and saves the government from being accused of "counterfeiting" or copying when it! can take over everything that is legit and genuine only later! ....Show more
Elden Dedon: You just proved what many people think. The CCP and the people who support it are pure greed. If a person tries something and it fails the CCP does not help in any way. But on the other hand if a person invest their money and it makes money, then the CCP wants to take it away from the people who worked to make it grow. This is also why you have not seen any inventions coming out of China since the CCP took control of the country. No person wants to work hard and put everything they worked for into invented something only to have a lazy government come along and take everything away from them. Look at the country the CCP has built. Everything in the country has been bought or stolen from others. Sure some things are built in China by Chinese but the things they build were not invented in China or invented by Chinese. Take the pride of the Chinese Air force, the J-20. Technology bought from Bosnia (a US F-117 that was shot down) and to this da! y has not gotten a engine that will make it perform. The CCP is now trying to get a engine out of Europe. The CCP has bought military parts from Russia and tried to build them in China to no avail. There has been nothing invented since the CCP took control. The reason being just as you have said, take it away from somebody who worked to invent it, or steal it. If you are to lazy to work for what you want then you will always be on the bottom of the pole. And by the way, nobody has forced the CCP to let people go anywhere....Show more
Marquetta Gimm: Because casinos make there money from the misfortune of others. The average mainlander most likely does not have enough money to lose.having them in Macau's is kind of a ticket price entry pass for them. If they can afford to travel to Macau then they can afford to lose money.@Charlie only Chinese tourists visit Macau for the casino's I went on a tour as soon as we left 25% of our tour group stayed behind, they were all Ch! inese. I must had only seen like 2-5% of non-Chinese people in the plac! e....Show more
Marco Stolarz: I think China should. I mean numerous lottery is JUST LIKE gambling, right? And I also think prostitution, weed, and porn should be legal too, in every country. that's just me.Add: In Vegas and Lousiana i also saw many chinese gamble there. seems chinese likes gambling a lot, like mah jon. hey, some people's hobby is just gambling, it's none of our business right? maybe they just have too much money. I myself will never indulge in gambling because i have good self control....Show more
Donnie Bolio: @ My name is ..... I have been to Macau for around 10 times. I know some of the HK people go there very often for gambling..
Walter Scordino: @ Charlie.... just a few months ago, when the Chinese government limited Chinese people from traveling to Macau ( to limit Chinese people from gambling), Macau casinos started crying for more gambliers saying that there was not enough jobs for the staffs, because of that, Chinese government w! as forced to let more people to go to Macau for gambling. China continues to lose the wealth. At the end of the day, the real winners are casinos, and the real losers are the gamblers and also China because China has to lose $100 in order to secure jobs for Macau people that worths only $50, means, Chinese government actually lose $50 for every $100 it pays, and the real winners are casino. Jobs for their staffs has become casino's weapon. It will become an ongoing scenario....Show more
Eli Trapeni: Because there are no casinos in China. China says it is against gambling, so if they put their hands on Macau's casinos, they are contradicting themselves. That's why government officials in China fly to Macau to gamble, drink, and find prostitutes. China already has its own gambling, called lottery. Which is owned by the government. It is really confusing I know. So how can you say that those who lose money to Macau casinos are not foreign tourists? I suggest you visit Ma! cau just so you would know how many foreign tourists visit the casinos ! there. Listening to your buddies who hasn't been to Macau isn't going to help either.Edit: Oh so you know only some. . . .you are confusing me, here let me help you a bit with your own words :1) "The point is, those people who lose money to Macao casinos are not foreign tourists but Chinese people and China's wealth !!"2) "I have been to Macau for around 10 times. I know some of the HK people go there very often for gambling."So you've been to Macau for 10 times, and you know some HK people, but you also say those people who lose money to Macau casinos are not foreign tourists, instead they are all Chinese people. Hmm. . . . failed credibility for 10 times and contradicting analogy son. It doesn't make sense. I have to pee....Show more
Emeline Albracht: Many governments run lotteries and use their profits to fund hospitals, schools, and other socially beneficial programs. Casinos tend to attract gambling addicts and degenerates, unlike lottery tickets that attract $5! per week players. Because the nature of casinos is fundamentally evil and depraved, I am strongly against any government operating a casino.China allows casinos in Macau, but no where else in China. Macau's casino-based economy was designed as a destination for foreign nationals, so the number of Mainlanders allowed in as tourists is strictly limited. Macau's casinos are a double edged sword that makes money from degenerate foreigners, but also corrupts Chinese visitors. Personally, I do not think this "devil's bargain" is worthwhile. The Chinese government makes money directly from Macau's casinos, resorts, and hotels, via corporate income taxes. The casino industry also creates thousands of jobs and that generate income tax from workers. China's government always gets paid from Macau's casinos, just like America's government gets paid from Las Vegas casinos. The Chinese government does not need to dirty its hands by running casinos. Let private companies take the bu! siness risk and pay taxes instead. China's government has enough to th! ink about without dealing cards and serving drinks to Japanese gambling addicts and degenerate Australians....Show more
Nadia Crauswell: Interesting idea. Now, all you have to do is convince the super rich in China to share their profits, because that is why the business is not allowed to spread. If you succeed in doing so, then I envision the signage:"Welcome to the Forbidden City. Biggest Little City in the East.""All-you-can-eat imitation steak buffet - 5RMB!!"Ah.. the little Mao faces rolling around on a slot machine...[ticka ticka tickety tick... tack, tack... TACK. Kaching!] "Hey, I hit the Super CCP Jackpot! I won a collapsed apartment building in Shanghai!"And, I'm getting set to go into production of these souvenir T-shirts: "My parents gambled in Lhasa, and all I got was this stupid yurt.""I Love Yak-asses Like You!" "Hu Who?""Mah-jong is for losers!""No opinion. No sense. China Rocks!""Gosh, I miss opium... When are the Brits coming back?""Save your 50-cents! . I can tell you what to think for FREE!"(open to further suggestions)...Show more
