fun, cheap board games for two?

Serena Doak: chess, checkers, shut the box.

Inge Mclaurine: There are a lot of good games out there for two players, but sadly they're usually more than $20. One that is less than $20 is "Hey! That's My Fish!" a simple game where you build an iceflow out of little pieces and then put Penguins on it and move around gathering all the fish you can as the iceflow falls apart. The player with the most fish at the end is the winner. It's easy to learn and the fact the the board is random every time you play ensures a high Replay value. And it's only like $10! The link is below.OH! Duh! Travel Blokus! It's only my favorite two player game! You place blocks on a board, all pieces of your color have to touch by corner but can't touch by edge, you place pieces trying to get as many as you can out on the board while stopping your opponent from getting any out if you can. It's great and it's only about $15-$20. Link is below.Ooh, it looks like Amazon has Lost Cities for just un! der $20. That's a great game. It's a card game where you're trying to discover... Lost Cities and so you're starting expeditions to try and build numeric sets from 1-10. But your opponent is working off the same deck as you and might be looking for the same civilizations. AND to make it a bit harder: To start an expedition(points pile) you have to start negative, and you only score points if you are able to get enough cards into the expedition to off set the negative score. It's a fast and easy to grasp game that has a surprising amount of strategy for a card game. If you can find a Board Game Store in your area you should go in and ask what they have that's good with two players. They're bound to make plenty of good suggestions and they'll be able to give you feedback about what they think of the games and what others think of the games. I've found that it's really best to get info on games before buying them if possible since everyone has different tastes. And I'm linking ! to Amazon because some of these games are hard to find in big ! chain stores like Walmart and Target. Target is getting better and has some really good games in it now, like Ticket To Ride and Zooloretto, but the best place to find these games is still probably your Friendly Local Game Store or Amazon.com, or Funagaingames.com. Funagain is a really good site for Board Games actually, they have good prices and if you shop there often you're likely to get coupons and discounts....Show more
