Torrie Weissenbach: I spent 2 weeks in Bangladesh back in '91. I can only remember eating at restaurants a coupl! e of times there, but they weren't vegetarian ones. You have to take into account that it's a Muslim country, and vegetarianism is extremely rare amongst Muslims (if it exists at all). Conversely it's also a very poor country, so eating animal flesh is not an everyday thing - not the way it is in richer countries, anyway. Bangladesh being centred on a huge river system, a major part of the diet of Muslims and Hindus and Christians alike is fish. I'd say it would be very unlikely indeed that there would be a pure vegetarian restaurant in Dhaka. Your best bet would be to buy your own vegetables from one of the many small markets, and cook them yourself....Show more

Ileen Oshell: There may be. Even if they are not Vegetarian restaurants they may well have Vegetarian food on the menu with a big V standing for Vegetarian.

Mitchel Demry: Welcome among us Chitra!I am writing from my experience of entertaining our Indian guests with Pure Vegetarian foods a decade ago. W! e were having some restaurants where you could ask for Pure Ve! getarian foods. I found our guests liking them very much.But if you mean that whether there exists any restaurant in Bangladesh serving Pure Vegetarian foods exclusively then I am not sure of such places in Bangladesh.You can be rest assured that we have varieties of vegetables available in the kitchen markets and you would have no problem cooking them yourself even if you may not get 100% Pure Vegetarian food serving restaurants.Have a nice stay here!...Show more
