Melina Minneweather: I love the food served in Saudi marriage, its alot and delicious. :)
Bryant Pillitteri: I remember the first week I was here. I was in a hotel. For few days I heard lot of noises 2 rooms next to mine. People laughing, chatting. Very loud.I didn't know what was going on. Then, one day I was walking to my dinners, and as I was passing by I heard lot of women screaming... Heck I though there was a fights...!! I thought knifes were flying, for my fright ....I looked, and the door was open while i was walking pass by. Women were actually dressed all western, black, white... Abbaya not to be seen at all.. It took just 2 Sec....I went an spoke to my hotel manager, said too much noise and too many women in my floor!! I need to change the room. Also, found out, from the rooms to the hall they where abbaya, then its just thrown away.To find out some ladies night and some wedding... I was surprised!! I thought saudi was all Islam and strict.. but this was Ha! voc...In my country, its not a islamic country but muslim women don't behave like this. They don't where these christian dresses. Only, Muslims where these for parties and functions. Most women, where Sari, and nice abayas, or shalwas, they will listen to music but will never dance wild. If they dance it will just be little with the husband, or with family members. So ladies, I don't understand this saudi culture. Its like never judge the book by the cover. In this the cover is all full strict Islam, but the book...well i will leave it for your imagination....Show more
Oda Mauson: the major different thing is that weddings start at 11-12pm in KSA and finish at 4-5 am!!!And about the make up loool they put tons!!
Carolynn Testani: The brides' dresses are extravagant, like in the West. The food is usually buffet style. The bride has someone to come to her and do her hair and makeup (kinda expensive these days). The bride walks down the large aisle to her bridal ch! air on the stage. During this time, there is usually a photog! rapher / video. Lights are dimmed and spotlight goes on the bride. There are sometimes colored party lights flashing and smoke rising around the entrance of the bride before she begins her walk. As she walks there is usually a special wedding song played as the bride makes her entrance. Then... after the lights come back on, the guests make a line to go up on stage and greet / congratulate the bride. Many guest bring gifts for the bride and most of these are gold (gold jewelry sets). No mixing, except in some weddings, the groom and some immediate male family members will come to the bride for pictures and dancing for a brief moment. Most weddings hire a female band to come and play duff (drumlike instruments) and sing while the ladies get up and dance. The guests are lavishly dressed and also have their hair and makeup done professionally. The style of dancing and music is Saudi....Show more
Marjory Stromme: saudi weddings are separated, one hall if for men, ! another is for women. women wear dresses, some reveal a little too much skin, some don't. they play arabic music from arabic artists, or some people invite a singer to come and sing some arabic music. dress is usually white, make it is alot so she can look her best on that night. and hair is usually done in a very nice way. it usually starts at 12 at night and ends at dawn, like 4 or 5 AM. there is dancing, music, talking, and then at the end there is a dinner (which is usually lamb and rice). then after the dinner, the groom goes over to the female section, takes his wife and they go home together.i don't mind being your email buddy and answering any questions you have....Show more
Raye Tredennick: I went to a couple of weddings while I was there. They are not mixed. They are held in completely different places and there is security at the door to make sure you don't have any cell phones with cameras or cameras. When you enter the building there's like a hotel type l! obby where you would take of your hijab/niqab/abaya and check it in and! get a claim ticket before you enter the hall. The wedding hall is just like an American one with round tables. The entertainment is basically a lady singing and the music is just drums (at least the ones I went to). Servers come around and serve juice, coffee, tea, water and sweets throughout the night. Women basically sit there and talk and maybe half of them dance. The women wear long evening gowns that trail on the floor. The styles vary. Some are very beautiful and some are very, very tacky. I will say that I was surprised women wear really revealing dresses. I know it's just women, but I've been to Muslim all girl weddings in the US and I've never seen so many women with all their stuff hanging out... there is very little shyness among women there ... Same goes for the dancing. Some are very skilled at dancing, esp belly dancing and they are so skilled you'd wonder if they had professional lessons. At least this was my impression from what I saw in different weddi! ngs. The make up is like Arabic make up times three, professionally done most of the time. THe bride is not present most of the time; however she does come in like they said to greet people. She wears a white bride's dress just like in the west. Food is the last part of the wedding. It's buffet style and pretty good actually. i gotta go actually... that's what i could think of now..Oh yeah, and the weddings begin really late like at 11pm......Show more
Adan Stribble: The weddings I've been to started around 11 pm and ended around 4 am. The bride comes in around 1 or 2 am to greet everyone and then she leaves. She wears a white western style wedding dress. The parties I've been to have had women bands playing drums and singing. Many women are dancing and others are just watching. Many snacks and coffee and tea and water and juice are served throughout the evening. Dinner is served at the end, right before everyone leaves. The wedding parties here are generally s! eparated between men and women, so there's no mixing at all.The style o! f dancing is like belly dancing mostly. Many women buy new dresses to go to weddings and they go to get their hair done and wear a lot of make-up. Weddings are a big business here!...Show more
