If you are teaching yourself to play guitar whats the best way to start learning?

Malcom Fenoff: First you must practice your finger to get strong finger. C D G is good chords to beginners. But I suggest you to take online guitar lesson...

Coleen Carignan: PluckandPlayGuitar has free video based lessons for absolute beginners and assume you know nothing or close to nothing. It takes you step by step through the basic guitar chords one by one. There's also lesson on guitar scales, techniques and some easy songs to play.http://www.pluckandplayguitar.com/...Show more

Lashawn Zabarkes: use tabs their free online and you can probably get instructions on how to use them on youtube

Robt Betker: http://www.guitartricks.com/freeguitarlessons.phpcreate your acount for free and get free lessons. watch for pop ups or ads, don't sign up for anything and the sight is pretty good. Holding the guitar and finger arching is what you want to learn first.

German Thal: First learn how to tune it. Then learn the C Major, G Major and D Major chord! s in open position. Just start strumming. You'll be surprised how many songs are based on those chords called the I IV V (1 4 5). Then get a hold of a book on diatonic theory.

Michelle Sohre: Forget teaching yourself - the success rate for self-teaching is dismally low. Get lessons.

Berry Gilmore: Best way is to get a practice regimen going, and staying dedicated to learning and playing every day. Just don't fart around aimlessly on the guitar all day, like I use to do when I first started.

Ronny Nowzari: When you're learning anything for the first time, it's overwhelming to try to pick the most reliable source of information. You can buy a cheap book or even try to go through reading a lot of free lessons that are offered online. Keep in mind though that just like many things, you get what you pay for. A walmart book or free articles are only going to take you so far, and you probably won't learn what you actually want to learn. The best inexpensive yet r! eliable option is video lessons on the web. You actually get t! aught how to play. I personally have spent years and years developing a system and creating an online instructional website that is quality (not just trying to make a buck--like most sites out there). In fact, I offer a new video lesson every single week, answer questions, have a forum. It's set up just for people like you. I actually take the time to help you as you learn. I've tried to make a very simple way to learn. I think you'll like it! http://guitarmann.comAnyway, here's a blog post I made recently about choosing on online guitar instruction website. Good luck learning! http://guitarmann.com/articles/the-best-online-gui... There are also many other guitar blog posts you can check out!Stephen...Show more

Dirígete a Payon Town.

Viaje a Einbroch.

Llama a Zargon.

Trae a Trunk.

Vuelve a Einbroch.

Obtenga pelusas, hierbas verdes y conchas.

Studying abroad in Russia?

Sol Bayn: I'm sure Russia is a wonderful place for the natives there, but if yourfrom the US (depending on what part in particular) i think you willcome to terms and realize what a serious decision your planning onmaking. You would have to take student loans to pay for flights/school/board/food/gas/etc... which becomes pricey. Try calling local colleges to see if they offer such programs. If not, youwill eventually have to start branching out to other colleges, until youfind a program that suites your needs. good luck though....Show more

Mohamed Szollosi: There's a program for foreign students to study Russian at Novgorod State University (http://www.novsu.ru/english/).http://www.novsu.ru/english/admission/

Frank Gazaway: It's difficult to find a meaningful study abroad program as most are simply small trips which last a few weeks. Wait until you are in college. Almost every college offers their students the ability to study abroad and Russia is an option at m! ost. Study Abroad options at my university ranged from 6 weeks (summer) to a full year with the average being one semester. Study abroad is also increasingly common now.

Jackson Esmiol: First, when you study that broad, make sure she's smart enough in order for you to actually learn Russian.

Katheryn Skrobacki: Your goal of studying in Russia is really incredible and so interesting and I highly encourage you to pursue this. I have not done any of the high school study abroad programs but I can offer information on college study abroad. When I wanted to go to Russia, I had looked into doing study abroad through colleges and they told me that if I waned to do it, I would have to study 2 years of college Russian and then after it, I could go to Russia and receive college credit for it. If I were just to go there, I would have to pay anywhere from $20k to $30k and for me, that was too much money. I decided to check Russian university websites which actually encou! rage foreign students to study there. If you are interested in! spending a year there, you could go ahead and do a university preparation course which will prepare you for entering into a Russian university. Usually what you do is you decided which faculty or department you are interested in and when your Russian language is at a high enough level, they will begin adding courses related to your future study department. I did Russian philology and so I did my regular weekly courses and then after a certain amount time, I began taking extra grammar courses and courses on literature so that I could have entered into a Russian university in the philology department. This for me was a really great experience because it allowed me to learn Russian, plus allowed me to experience Russian culture and I was able to learn so much about living in Russia. If you go through the universities, you can live in the student dormitory (общежитие) which is really not comprable to American dormitories so it would be better for you to either live ! with a host family which will afford you a lot of practice, or you can live on your own. I, at first, lived with a family which was really nice and then evetually I lived on my own which allowed me a lot of freedom to do whatever I wanted. I have lived in the student dormitory but for me, it really wasn't the best situation and so I encourage you not to do it.The university preparation programs are really great because usually the minimum amount of hours you will do is like 24 hours (6 academic hours a day) and that can be for 5 days a week, though some programs go 6 days a week. You are in a setting where you can meet other foreign students, you are studying together so you have a support group, and the university should engage in cultural activities to help the students learn about Russia. Whe I studied the first time, the teachers took us to local museums and art galleries, puppet shows, concerts and also there was an international club that was set-up to help the fo! reign students make friends so it was a good situation. You only menti! oned that you wanted to go there to learn the language, so if you went over, you can earn a few dollars teaching English classes, but really for you, you will want to "forget" English and just speak Russian. If you continue to speak English, you will never really learn Russian and it is great when you are able to talk with all of the Russians, in Russian, and are able to be undertsood. If you are interested in going, go to some university websites (you can check like Wikipedia under "list of Russian universities") and in there, switch the page to English and find, usually called, The Center for International Education. Some good university sites are:Moscow State University http://www.cie.ru/eng/index.phpPetrozavodsk State University http://schools.karelia.ru/Novosibirsk State Universityhttp://ciep.fija.nsu.ru/There is one company I know of who does set-up tours but they are more expensive than just contacting the school directly. The cons are that the price is more expe! nsive, but the pros are that with the company, they guarantee everything so that if you have a problem, they can resolve it more easily. http://www.sras.org/But for me, I contacted the universities directly and felt that it better for me to go directly to the schools. The SRAS company might be able to help you if you want to do a Russian student exchange program. Good luck!...Show more

Eli Trapeni: I realize it is a serious decision...I understand. My aunt (from Russia) suggest this,She says that it will work out.So do not give me your doubts.

Miguel Koczela: I'm actually going to Russia myself through the school's foreign exchange program. Talk to your school's guidance counselor. They usually have connections and great advice when it comes to such things.

Ermelinda Stalnaker: Read Alejandro's response carefully as it's excellent. I have a daughter attending Moscow State Univerisity now, and I also have studied there. I'd recommend www.sras.org as does! he.

If my child is in a special education program in another state and we move to Illinois, how does that work?

Dexter Dicostanzo: My recommendation is to request a copy of your child's entire file from the school district you're leaving in Washington. Public schools throughout the US are notorious for lagging on getting the records over when a child relocates, especially out-of-state. Once you get your copy of the records, KEEP them ... forever!!! You never know when they may be needed, especially if something gets "lost" during the transfer from the old district to the new one. Even if it takes time to get the copies of the entire file (check with WA State Dept of Ed to see if there is a timeline mandated by state law), you should at least put together a packet the includes copies of your child's most recent assessments and his most current IEP. You should already have copies of these items and, if not, they should be readily on-hand at the school in Washington. They can't deliver special education to your child without them.Send them via FedEx or UPS ground or Certified Ma! il (so you have a tracking number and can verify delivery) to the attention of the receiving district's special education director in Chicago. You should find out who that is and specify that person by name on the envelope rather than just by title. The last thing you want to do is show up on the first day of school only to discover that they don't know you're child is on an IEP, much less have a copy of it to implement. Another consideration is one of semantics. References to various things throughout the current IEP may use relatively local jargon specific to Washington that may go by other names in Chicago. So, in your cover letter with your packet of materials to the special ed director in Chicago, request an IEP meeting to discuss the content of your child's IEP and to make sure everyone agrees on what the language of the IEP means. You don't want someone doing what they THINK the IEP is instructing them to do only to find out they misunderstood what they were su! pposed to be doing. As the parent, it's pretty much on you to! micro-manage this, though it shouldn't be. Also, I found the following on the National Dissemination Center for Children with Disabilities website (link below in Sources):If a child with a disability (who had an IEP that was in effect in a previous public agency in another State) transfers to a public agency in a new State, and enrolls in a new school within the same school year, the new public agency (in consultation with the parents) must provide the child with FAPE (including services comparable to those described in the child’s IEP from the previous public agency), until the new public agency:•Conducts an evaluation pursuant to 34 CFR 300.304 through 300.306 (if determined to be necessary by the new public agency); and •Develops, adopts, and implements a new IEP, if appropriate, that meets the applicable requirements in 34 CFR 300.320 through 300.324.[34 CFR 300.323(f)] [20 U.S.C. 1414(d)(2)(C)(i)(II)]To facilitate the transition for a child described in 34 CFR! 300.323(e) and (f):•The new public agency in which the child enrolls must take reasonable steps to promptly obtain the child’s records, including the IEP and supporting documents and any other records relating to the provision of special education or related services to the child, from the previous public agency in which the child was enrolled, pursuant to 34 CFR 99.31(a)(2) [Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act regulations regarding conditions under which prior consent is not required to disclose information]; and•The previous public agency in which the child was enrolled must take reasonable steps to promptly respond to the request from the new public agency.[34 CFR 300.323(g)] [20 U.S.C. 1414(d)(2)(C)(ii)]GOOD LUCK!!!!!...Show more

Marco Stolarz: Don't worry about that. When you register your child in the new school you will be asked where you are coming from. The old school will send his or her file over to the new school and that school will have all! records and your child will be placed in the correct classes. Remember! though you can take advantage of setting up meetings with the school psychologists in the form of IEP meetings. There you can discuss what classes your child needs or even if he or she was placed in the correct classes. Best of luck to you and your child....Show more

Garry Ohmen: You are worrying yourself over nothing . You simply enroll your child into a special ed class in Chicago thats all. Children are very resilient and can quickly bounce back as they have very little problem making new friends and getting adjusted to a new environment. It may be a bit hard at first but in a few weeks time everything will work itself out. Good luck with your move.

Lillie Yarde: Contact the state of IL they should be able to help

Sammy Kar: There isn't much difference. But, go to the school he is attending now and ask them just what you are to do.

Ruthe Real: Special education services follow your child from state to state. These services are governed by federal! law. Make sure you have in your possession, current copies of your child's due process paperwork, current IEP, and most current evaluation results. Clinton Migliori: Your child will have to have a Multi Disciplinary Staffing Conference MDSC to determine that he/she is eligible for Special Education Services. If you can find out the address of your new school, you should request the present school to send complete records of your child's school placements and staffings in Washington State. You will have to SIGN this request, and they will need time to send, so act on it NOW, to avoid timely delays in Illinois.

i have been unemployed for over 3 years now. How to get a job please?

answers 0:I have bachelor of science in mathematics. I graduated in May 2008. Unfortunately the degree proved to be worthless as far as money making goes. I was never able to find any job anywhere with it. Since then I have applied like 400 places nationwide, in the private sector as well as government sector but I never heard back from anyone. I especially applied lots of federal jobs. i spent hours on monster and careerbuilder job sites. looked at craigslist jobs but they turned out to be nigerian scam. Tired and fed up I gave up job hunt 4 months back. it seems getting a job is like winning the lottery. The unskilled jobs like store cashier or minimum wage did not hire me either. They said they can't hire because of the degree I possess. Some people told me to lie on! the application that I never went to university. I did that and I still could not find any job. I spoke to a store manager and he took me to his room and showed me a stack of applications. They were like 650 to 700 applications for the unskilled grocery store job. I was shocked to see such load of applications. Then the manager told me, "you tell me. i have this mountain stack on my desk already and then you are asking me for job too" Also I spent 50,000 dollars for the bachelor degree in mathematics. Now I can't even go back to school to complete a second bachelor degree in electrical engineering because i maxed out federal aid for undergraduate. For the past 3 years I have been unemployed with no direction whatsoever in life. I even went to a job fair and the recruiter told me "3 years of unemployment is direct disqualification from job. that shows weakness in you". Then what the heck am i to do? Now i need root canals on my teeth and don't even have dental insurance a! nd had to sell my car to gather funds for the 5 root canals an! d crowns that I need. the internet i am using is my neighbor's unsecured router. I even filed chapter 7 bankruptcy protection last year because chronic unemployment totally paralyzed me from making any kind of bill payment. This has the benefit of giving Americans coverage of the combat nature of what the troops are facing, but not the best overall view of the country because it also means that talking with Iraqi civilians is extremely limited for many reporters. Overall, what is on the news is decided by journalists, but a lot of what is played is chosen on its sensationalism value, especially on networks like CNN and MSNBC and FOX News where they're trying to fill 24 hours with news so they keep rehashing points and stories. This is why coverage on all of these networks leads them to cover "episodic" type stories that they can sustain coverage of throughout the day. In terms of international stories, some stories are covered because the news organization has a bureau in that country. But when a news stati! on doesn't have a bureau in, say, Chile, sometimes the story doesn't get covered regardless of it's importance. Also, what you see with political reporting is often the product of what journalists have been given by government sources, who often have their own agenda. And as a last thing, please don't confuse real journalists with political pundits.

Appliquez votre hydratant habituel.

Can I do my Bachelors of Education if i take a bachelors program in college?

Javier Holsonback: My advice is to take your question to an academic adviser at a university. The requirements for entry into teacher training programs are very specific and vary from province to province. You need to make sure that you have satisfied all prerequisites with your respective coursework and degrees. You don't want to spend more time and money in university than needed. For example, primary teacher programs usually require a certain number of Canadian Studies (ex, history, geography), Math, and Science (with lab component) courses. Sometimes only students with undergraduate degrees in common, school-taught academic areas (ex, English, History, Physical Education, Math, one of the sciences, Art, Music, etc...) are allowed. So, for example, someone with a degree in Applied Business might not be eligible for entry into a post-degree program. This is what it is like in my province. Again, every province is different. So it's very important that you visit an academi! c adviser before you start making big decisions that will affect you later. Plan out your academic road map with them....Show more

Reliez cinq autres pentagones.

Ajoutez vos cinq hexagones restants.

Masters in Education?

Jodie Capella: I'm assuming your undergrad is a BSEd in Secondary English Education, right? So, really you can choose which Master's to do. As a matter of point, I usually sugges to do the Master's in Administration, which includes a principal's certificate. Even if you never use it, knowing what the administration knows will help you as a teacher. (budget stuff, laws, etc) But, that's my pesonal opinion. Obviously a Masters in Literacy will focus heavily on teaching reading. Curriculum and Instruction degrees usually focus on the nuts and bolts of teaching. I've never seen a "language and culture" one, but it seems like it might be for foreign language studies. (which could help you in ESL)...Show more

What to know and how to buy health insurance.?

What to know and how to buy health insurance.?

answers 0:Ok, so im 24 year old male lookin to buy health insurance. Where the problems start is when they start using strange jargon. Words such as PPO, deductable, etc. I know PPO is the best insurance. What basics should I know when buying health insurance. Also where to buy, how to buy, plan types, what to know when buying health insurence. Any helpful links or information would be helpful.I am looking at companies such as Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna and some others. I am in school and work part time so I just need the basics....Show moreanswers 1:First PPO may not be 'the best.' If it were then they wouldn't offer other types of coverages. You need to find a health insurance broker (a person) that can help you. It's time to start developing a relationship with someone that you can turn to for financial/insurance information. Brokers can also help you at claim! time and with billing issues - not something you'd get from a big firm AND the price is the same, so go boutique.answers 2:check your parents policy you can remain on it until age 29 at no additional cost to them. Check to see what is available at school. otherwise depending on what state you are in you could pay $60-$1000 per month. Depending on the plan selected. Jargon HMO EPO in network only these providers have signed an agreement with the carrier to accept the payment offered based on a schedule of services provided. PPO POS I( out of network) f you select a provider who does not accept your carrieryou can use them However, you will be subject to an additional payment $1000=$2500 plus there is a dollar maximum on there services. So if the iron in your blood turns to lead and settles in your ***and the only Dr who can treat it Lives in the American Virgin Islands you can go to that DR...answers 3:Forget any links that someone might post, since if you don't unders! tand the strange jargon, then how do you know what you are buy! ing? All the big companies like BCBS, Aetna have plans they sell that are worthless; ie; limited benefit plans (these are not health insurance)Many are pushing these and particularly to people like you who do not understand these policies, but may buy one based on price, but not on what they cover or not cover. You have only 1 choice and to talk to an agent that sells health insurance period. Make sure they can offer you choices in several companies, not just one, since there are a lot out there selling these crappy plans. I found out when I got my own individual policy and got all kinds of quotes, phone calls and since I have an insurance background realized they were selling these awful policies and went with a good insurance agent for a major comprehensive policy. An agent can discuss your current health status, treatment etc to suggest your best options. If there could be a problem, they will know and discuss with you. But please;;;;;;;;;;do not use websites, si! nce if you don't understand, then when you get a policy and think something is covered and find out it isn't, then you will be back on Y/A and asking why they did not pay for something. Also with an agent, you can call them and ask questions if it is covered or not, since that is their job, to advise you. good luck...answers 4:You need a trusted adviser to help you through the process of purchasing health insurance so that you understand what you are purchasing. Understanding what you are buying is as important as the price. An agent can give you the knowledge you need so that you can decide what the right balance is between affordability and policy benefits. If you choose a plan that covers everything i.e. doctors office visits, prescription drugs, preventative health benefits, maternity coverage as well as low deductibles, low co-pays and optional vision and dental benefits your monthly premiums will be significant. On the other hand because you are young, presumably hea! lthy and probably don't often use the health care system you might cons! ider a plan that covers only the major health catastrophe. In this type of plan the insurance company does not pay benefits until you first reach a significant out of pocket cost (this is a deductible). If that is too scary consider a plan with a higher in-hospital deductible, higher co-pays for doctor's office visits and perhaps not cover prescription drugs. Either of these approaches will result in a lower monthly premium. You then can use the monthly premium savings to pay for the occasional doctor visit or prescription and still come out ahead.Check with the agent that writes your home or auto insurance he/she can provide you a health insurance proposal that takes into account your budget and health status. They can answer questions as to what is and is not covered by the policy, explain deductibles and co-pays and show you the hospitals and doctors that participate in the network. (Networks in PPO and HMO plans are very important considerations). Some are going to sugge! st you go to their web site so that they earn a few pennies on a "click through". Some may suggest going on line to get a quote but as you already know there is much more to health insurance than price. Use the Internet to educate yourself but use an agent to purchase the coverage....answers 5:Sir, u must visit the site below which is surely going to provide u ample amount of info http://in.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=201...answers 6:I just bought my own too. I'm 23 and out of college. First I went to http://www.healthinsurance.com/hi/ to get quotes and price ranges. Then, after comparing a few, I called the company I liked directly and handled it through them instead of going through the website. I still had to fill out my name and email and stuff to get quotes, but it was worth it to compare. There are a lot of websites that do that if you don't like the one I gave you. Just google it.The deductible is how much you will pay if you go into the hospital. Mos! t were $5,000 or $2,500. If you need surgery, the deductible comes out! of your pocket before the insurance pays the rest. The deductible amount is for one year, and everything you pay out of pocket goes towards reaching the deductible. For example, you have an ER visit that was $100, you now will only pay $4,900 at the most until the end of the year when it starts over. The thing I looked at the most was how much it cost to go to my family doctor. Some are $15 per visit, some are $35, some are $50.Most plans for me were around $100 per month, which I didn't think was too bad. The prices you see on the quote website are not exactly accurate. Those are if you were in perfect health. If you smoke, take medication of any kind, have a disease, anything like that, the price goes up. The site quoted me about $75, but little things made it go up. For example, I take an antibiotic for acne, and that raised the price. (which sucks!!!) You have to be completely honest about all of it though, because if they see in medical records that you lied or! left something out, they can revoke the contract and not pay. And we both know they would let you keep paying every month and not revoke it until you needed them to pay for something and then you'd be screwed.Good luck. It's not as hard to get or as expensive as everyone makes it out to be....answers 7:I suggest you to try this web site where onel can get rates from different companies: http://INSUREQUOTE.US/index.html?src=5YAxnu68umH27...RE :What to know and how to buy health insurance.?Ok, so im 24 year old male lookin to buy health insurance. To become a high school teacher, should I major in secondary education or the subject?

Jonathan Schlussel: A high school teacher teaches a subject, such as math. That is what you major in. In California you need a Bachelors degree in the subject. Then additional course work in how best to teach it, organize a class, promote a learning (not chaos) environment. Student teaching is the ideal, but you have to pay for it, so some teach & student teach at the same time. Some become zombies from lack of sleep.

Janean Guz: What subject, and what state?

Janean Guz: Well, I'm from Massachusetts and I'm currently an "English Secondary Education" major at my college in New Hampshire. I've been looking at other answers, but in the Northeast it's really up to you what you want to major in, your content area or secondary education. If you major in secondary ed then you will have to take education courses (kind of like a duel major), many pre-practicums (pre-student teaching), and then student teaching your senior year. Also, you will probably have to pa! ss the state's teacher exam for you to be admitted into the teacher program, but they will usually help you with that process. Whereas, if you just majored in your content area then you would be solely taking just English, or Math, or History.... Then if you decide to go into teaching you'll be on your own when it comes to taking the exam. I had a teacher back in high school who just majored in her content area and she regretted not having student teaching experience. Well, every state is different in their expectations... but this what i've been going through in MA/NHThe best way to know is to either go online to your states education website or talk to the advisers at your h.s./university. Good Luck!...Show more

Lynn Hollars: Secondary education. If you major in the subject, you will have to take education classes anyway. The secondary education major allows you to specialize in the subject matter that you will teach, such as math, science, or English. You will b! e qualified to teach you subject matter, don't worry!

Ni! colas Cooley: It depends on where you are and what your state requires. In Kentucky I majored in English with secondary certification.

Timmy Bustard: The teacher from California is correct. You must major in your subject area and you will need to take additional classes to get certified to teach.

Ambrose Mumma: Most can start as early as 2. It is usually daily and in the morning. This can have benefits as your child will learn to interact with others. They'll also get used to a routine involving school and will be willing to go later.

Troy Monsivais: 3 to 4 years old is when they usually start pre-k. It's usually 3 mornings a week, from 8 to noon, and it is voluntary.

Hye Caulley: Usually they can started @ ages 2 yrs old and go from 9 to 12 and three days of the week. It is helpful in some way, because they started to learn and interactive with other children there same ages.

Ervin Laeger: about four a lot of the time!!

Nicolas Cooley: i began chatting with my youngsters as quickly as they might comprehend me! . you are able to not only say they should not be left by myself with strangers. youngsters get abducted top under their parent's noses each and all of the time. It only takes a 2d, and no count how sturdy of a parent you're, on occasion it occurs. Hubert Jestes: It is definitely not NECCESSARY for kids to go to preschool. however, in this day and time most kids do in some form. If you are encouraging good habits and providing them with stimulating and developmentally challenging toys and opportunities, then they will probably ! do just fine. However, I teach Pre-K (4 year olds) at a priva! te school and the social interaction with other children can be just as important as the academic side. Children at our school really must recognize all their letters, numbers, shapes, etc. as well as know their letter sounds and be able to spell the color words and be able to already basically write their letters as well BEFORE entering Kindergarten to be able to keep up. I would just look at where you are planning to send your child for Kindergarten and what is required before you decide. I know that some people start a 3 year old for about 8 hours a week (4hrs. twice a week) and the class I teach is 4 hrs a day M-F (for a 4 year old). Then again, if I were not teaching, I would be teaching my daughters Pre-K material at home and then sending them to Kindergarten, as long as I made sure I was providing them adequate opportunities for social interaction with other children. It is really such a subjective topic and should be thought about carefully. Also, I would not ! rush into any preschool program at all. I would visit several and even sit in on a class or two. Any program that frowns on parental involvement I would not trust....Show more

Teachers, how do you feel about students getting homework help on YA?

Toby Women: As I teacher, I've answered some students' questions. But, it is in a way that explains the concept behind the question and lets the questioner figure out the right answer or I've given a website to help.I see many students who post a question, and just want it answered for them. I don't give answers to them or to the students in my class.I have also noticed that many people who answer don't know anything about the subject. Some of the answers are just plain wrong. I believe that like any other educational resource, YA can be helpful to clarify or assist, but I don't like it when a "student" want the work done for him/her.And, yes, I am flabbergasted by some of the questions. Did they not pay attention in class, or did they cut class that day and are now playing catch up???...Show more

Serena Doak: Kids who just list questions they want answered annoy me. They are too lazy even to google it.Opinions and ideas are fair game.

Esteban Faggett: I think! YA can be a great tool for students who really need help or guided in the correct diffracting, so they can find the answers on their own. I too am flabbergasted by the questions ask; here's my homework what's the answer,? especially when they just needed to pick up a dictionary.I enjoy helping a student who does not quite understand or does not know where to look for the answers, but find a web site that will answer their problem and/or give examples/explanations. I never give the entire answer, YA is not there on a test. The internet is easier than opening a book and reading; you've seen the questions "need a book on-line." Students' have told me they have never read a book; they watch the movie. As for parents and siblings helping, you have both parent working, meetings, sports, etc. Some of the math kids have to take parents never had and new math is coming back.Hope this clarifies some of your questions....Show more

Fritz Hawkey: As a student, I will tell you that! not a lot of students will really be helped by YA. They might! , if its a simple math equation, but otherwise, users who mostly answer homework questions get their answers from the web, they just google it etc. I've seen questions where a student was asking for help in writing an essay including a list of historical figures. that student didn't get much help, because no one is willing to do somebody else's work. As a future teacher myself *(two more year till i receive my BA)*, I am not worried about students getting help from YA. I know they are limited to the amount of help they will receive. All in all, a teacher will know a students level of performance, and if an assignment is submitted that sounds copied, a teacher can just quote it, and sure enough will it come out on YA---also known as plagiarism....Show more

Rosalia Hibler: Honestly may be they need someone else to help clarify it. May be someone else can explain it better so they understand it better. It doesn't mean their lazy or didn't pay attention it just means so m! etimes that they just need a different way of approaching it. As long as the work isn't done for them. When I have essay questions for college I usually ask my friends to read it over may be they can spot a mistake that I missed. Our professors actually e ncourage us to do that.

Ramona Pago: ^^^PEWDIE anyhow. xD Yeah, it is been allowed when you consider that college grow to be invented. xD you will possibly be able to desire to ask her in case you will possibly be able to desire to no longer change your papers, or greater effective yet, learn greater. except each and every physique has a similar problem as you, perhaps it is not any longer the instructor's fault... or much greater effective yet, do they even word in case you turn it or no longer? it is effortless experience. i'm in severe college, yet while my eastern instructor says "change papers" i do no longer. Want to be home-schooled but need help?

Antonia Mogg: i know what you mean about the drama, 8th grade was a horrible year for me. i struggled with emotional problems too, like the thoughts of suicide and everything. my grades dropped last year, too- c in science and math when i was usually a straight a student. and i can also relate to the anxiety- feeling sick to your stomach when you thought of school. you're not alone- there's plenty of people that feel this way. after all, if everyone loved public school so much then there wouldn't be any other options!the anti-social thing is a bunch of bs. just find some things you're interested in- art classes, volunteering, sports, etc. there's tons of ways to stay social. don't worry about it.i didn't ever ask my mom about home schooling, i knew i wanted to do online school. but she was very against it at first. do your research- make a good argument. tell her that she won't have to teach you, you'll be taught by real teachers. you'll have more opportunitie! s socially and academically- more freedom with your schedule and classes. there are lots of pros to online schooling. you won't have to worry about any bullying or school drama- being distraction free may help you concentrate and get ahead: you'll be able to work at your own pace.pediatrician:http://www.actstudent.org/wwm/occs/occ308.htmlnurse:http://www.actstudent.org/wwm/occs/occ286.htmlwhat do colleges look for in students? good grades and lots of extra curricular activites?grades: you still have the option of taking AP and honors courses with most online schools. you also have the option of taking classes at a community college (usually) once you are in 11th and 12th grade. if you take classes at a local college then you will have a head start- you will be able to go to the college until you go to medical school (or transfer to another college), so you're automatically accepted. plus, it will look good- advanced courses always look good.activities: sports, volunte! ering, clubs, etc.be a well rounded student. study hard, get ! involved in athletics, and get involved in your community. hard work will pay off.sports: check with your local YMCA, look for exercise classes avaliable near you (like gymnastics, dance, karate, etc.)- many online schools will count these as "gym" and pay a perecent of the costs. also, you should still be able participate in your public school's sports.clubs/volunteering:what are you interested in?find a local home schooling group so you can take classes such as public speaking, cooking, etc. you will also be able to participate in clubs through these groups. volunteer- animal shelter, nursing homes, libraries, hospitals, etc. since you are interested in the medical field, volunteering at a clinic or hospital would be a good idea (but i think you have to be 16)also, make sure your school is accredited so you get a real diploma!http://distancelearn.about.com/od/accreditationinf...yahoo answers question about online schools and getting into college:http://answers.yahoo.! com/question/index?qid=200908...other links:list of free online schools:http://distancelearn.about.com/od/onlinepublicscho...pros and cons of online school:http://distancelearn.about.com/od/virtualhighschoo...general info about online high schools:http://distancelearn.about.com/od/virtualhighschoo...if you're enrolling in an online school, start researching asap- most are not accepting any more students because they have already bought and shipped the materials.good luck!! ;)...Show more

I always thought my life was over because of all the horrible and tragical things that happened in the 16 years that I was born. When I was in regular school I always got C's and D's; but in homeschooling I've gotten A's and B's. It changed my life! It's tru! e that SOME people are anti-social, but I'm very social and I still tal! k with my friends every single day 24/7. Why don't you ask your mom if you can do homeschooling? Dozens of researchers have executed these studies. Examples of these studies ranged from a multiyear study in Washington state, three nationwide studies across the United States, a! nd a nationwide study in Canada (Ray, 1994, 1997, 2001c; Rudner, 1999; Wartes, 1991). Sherrill Botting: An option is doing homeschool and just sending your kids to either an extra curricular activity or a church youth type thing. Yeah, there is pe! er pressure, decisions to make, and bad kids that bring drugs into scho! ol and kids who bully. But you can't just shelter your kids. I think it would be better to go to public school because it could teach important lessons and also gets kids ready for the REAL world.

What are European and Asian countries doing that causes them to be ranked higher than us in education?

Lahoma Beadell: I live in Europe, but some of my relatives live in America, so I know what I'm talking about: American school are just too easy. I'm in the first grade of high school, and I'm doing your 4th grade maths. :O

Jasper Mangel: guessing your american? - its the same with healthcare, Americans pay ALLOT more per capita for health and education yet get back ALLOT less XD, someones obviously getting very rich :) .personally i think its the general american phobia of socialism, im not staying the state should own everything (far from it) but the government is prevented from regulating either "industry" very well, and they are just industrys now, a lucrative business opportunity :) (+the state doesn't pay for it... free healthcare and education ftw XD)btw, i think all education systems are critisised by local media + paying more increases cost - counter intuitive? )...Show more

Jill Thomer: It also has to do with babying American citizens with chances to ! pass. Also the media and the lack of conformity in schools.

Jana Sakasegawa: They pay their teachers.

Maurice Breuning: They simply deliver a higher academic standard of education. In the UK children sit GCSE's at age 16 which in terms of academic difficulty are the same as the exams you guys sit when leaving high school at 18, so by the time English students go to Uni they are at least two years more advanced. The american system also seems to baby students, in the UK children go to nursery where they begin to learn not just play at 2 years 9 months, not 5 years, so again an advantage, also European education is targetted toward self efficacy rather than a didactic teacher/student relationship, so students are encouraged to develop the tools/skills for effective learning, to learn themselves in all aspects of life and to develop a thirst for knowledge rather than expecting to be given not only the tools but the materials to learn....Show more

Is higher education just a big rip off?

Lon Pennington: Many of the school system, includes universities, always think about the affordability for every student to learn. We live in a society were you are able to get an education either being rich or poor. The real problem I think you should be into is, why are there many drop-outs in high schools and universities? Students make decisions to take free grant money from the government, yet they are not interested in higher education. I really think that universities don't allow you to find a job, pay off loans, or do any of your personal stuff. The university is there to use, they may find you contacts, but the rest is up to you. Work today is really slow, that's the concern of others not wanting to take the risk. Many choose the route of community college. Not expensive, plus it guarantees you after two years, to transfer to any public or private universities....Show more

Higher degrees (outside of worthless ones from diploma mills) are very valuable, actually; while you may or may not find a job FASTER, you nearly always find a BETTER one for having a degree. Usually rather significantly so if in science or engineering. As for affordability, yes, that's an issue. However, there's a ton of financial aid out there, as well as scholarships for merit; if you're a darned good student, you will find colleges often beating down your doors to offer you help. Even as a reasonable student, there's lots of help available. If you find it a ripoff and want only direct work experience! , there's lots of vocational/technical schools available which! are far cheaper and faster than a more generalized 4 year college. You won't get highend jobs from vo-tech certificates or associates' degrees, but if you want a quick job that's fairly straightforward, that may be the route for you....Show more

Kaley Lappas: In my opinion the people that think it is a rip off are those that just go to schools for generals. Of course if you do not major in a well established or marketable education it will be hard, higher education is great and many high paying carriers require a 4 year degree, but those that want to specialize need to major in that field. Now online schools, yes they are because you can get a more reputable degree from your community college for thousands less and you learn much more in a classroom....Show more
