is it bad to have no references on your resume?

Robbie Starchman: It's true that many employers today don't bother checking references. They rely on the web and their own instincts when they hire someone but plenty of other employers do check references. They want to talk to people who've worked with you and know you. Since you don't know which category a prospective employer falls into, be prepared with a list of references, just in case.I hope this helps :-)...Show more

Ofelia Kieck: It is not necessary to include references â€" or even the phrase "references available upon request" â€" on your resume. However, It is assumed that you can provide references if they are requested during the interview process.

Chris Rosenkranz: Yes include your refernces!!!! A trend for a while was to put "references available upon request" but all that serves to do is piss the employer off as they have to work harder to find out if you're qualified, which is a daunting task already. Put your references at the bottom of the! page of your resume. Best of luck at the interview. Get a friend to do a practice one with you tinight asking you typical interview questions so you have an idea how to respond!

Wally Perrien: You don't have to provide them your references on your resume right away. Just put "References available upon request" at the bottom. Some employers don't ask for references, but be prepared in case they call you in for an interview and ask for a couple or so. You can ask a previous employer (if you have already worked before) or teachers who have known you for at least a year to become references. A close friend of your parents if you really have nothing. Just make sure you ask them before you use them as references, obviously :)Hope this helps!...Show more
