Green Day or AFI?

He has several amps just to get different clean tones, believe it or not, and several other amps set for different distortion tones. He switches between the amps with a foot switch system that costs more than your house.

Malissa Porth: Metallica, like a lot of other bands, and I mean a lot, use guitar pedals that can create numerous effects. A distortion pedal has the ability to turn the distortion on and off, and that is what they use. They could also use a footswitch that connects from the amplifier which is like a pedal, but switches between the two channels on the amplifier (provided the amplifier actually has two channels and not one)
