answers1: The employment outlook for philosophy majors is relatively bad.

Simply because most companies don't employ "philosophers".

The only real job that exists is in teaching. However as philosophy
is generally not taught in high school, these positions only exist at
Universities. The problem is nearly all of these jobs are already
filled and not expanding, as a result the number of philosophy majors
graduating is larger than the available jobs.

A.k.a. no one gets employed and there are no jobs.

What is viable to do, is major in a more profitable field and minor in
philosophy.

For example often people who major in Law get a minor in philosophy
because lawyers often have to argue positions so having a minor in
philosophy is seen as useful. Anyhow the overarching point is, you
can get a good job with a law degree unlike with a philosophy degree.

There are other majors which also value philosophy to some extent.

Mathematics for example values Logic courses because in math you have
to write mathematical proofs.

Also English tends to favor philosophy for some reason.
answers2: I know you can work as a banker.
answers3: I have been studying philosophy and neurology. They have
both been coming to a point where they are about to merge in some
areas. One of the jobs that you don't here about with them but is
evident throughout history is Public Speaking. Becoming a public
speaker on both subjects creates a generous amount of cash. Plus you
can do it without the involvement of a degree. People are always
looking for some information and will pay a generous amount of money
for that information. You can rent a space two or three weeks in
advance, set up your marketing strategies and do it. It is that
simple, you just have to do it in a place that is geared toward what
you are going to speak on and if you do enough of it, you will find
yourself with a specific group that will attend most of your events
because they are looking for a specific answer that you have been
touching on the whole time.
answers4: I heard that some companies hire philosophers for their
extreme insight into every decision the company could make.
answers5: Night security, convenience store clerk, farmer. I have
done two of these. Farming is fun!
answers6: Most any menial job!
